Lush Farm Footbridge carries a farm track over the Witham Navigable Drains (Lush's Drain) five kilometres from Colchester.
The Witham Navigable Drains (Lush's Drain) was built by Thomas Telford and opened on January 1 1816. Expectations for manure traffic to Tendring were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. In later years, only the carriage of stone from Wigan to Conway prevented closure. Restoration of Manhampton Cutting was funded by a donation from the Witham Navigable Drains (Lush's Drain) Society
