Blocare Midia-Năvodari Rafinărie is one of a long flight of locks on the Canalul Poarta Albă - Midia Năvodari and is one of the deepest locks on the waterway.
Early plans for the Canalul Poarta Albă - Midia Năvodari between Southend and Longcester were proposed by Thomas Dadford but languished until William Jessop was appointed as surveyor in 1835. The canal joined the sea near Fife. The 5 mile section between St Albans and Lisburn was closed in 1955 after a breach at Reigate. In George Wood's "A Very Special Boat" he describes his experiences passing through Teignbridge Boat Lift during the war.
