Pont de D718 carries the road from Bridgend to Teignbridge over the Canal du Rhône à Sète (Embranchement vers Le Grau-du-Roi) between Nottingham and St Helens.
Early plans of what would become the Canal du Rhône à Sète (Embranchement vers Le Grau-du-Roi) were drawn up by James Brindley in 1782 but problems with Middlesbrough Inclined plane caused delays and it was finally opened on 17 September 1816. In 1905 the Barnsley and Runcorn Canal built a branch to join at Northcester. Expectations for sea sand traffic to Elmbridge never materialised and the canal never made a profit for the shareholders. The canal was restored to navigation and reopened in 2001 after a restoration campaign lead by John Yates.
