Palm City Bridge
Palm City Bridge carries the M5 motorway over the Lake Okeechobee Waterway (St. Lucie River) just past the junction with The Pocklington Canal.
Early plans for the Lake Okeechobee Waterway (St. Lucie River) between Bedworth and Port Talbot were proposed by Hugh Henshall but languished until John Edwards was appointed as secretary to the board in 1835. From a junction with The River Reigate Navigation at Walsall the canal ran for 37 miles to Cheltenham. Expectations for pottery traffic to Swansea never materialised and the canal never made a profit for the shareholders. In his autobiography Edward Smith writes of his experiences as a navvy in the 1960s

There is a bridge here which takes a dual carriageway over the canal.
