Tay Canal Entrance is on the Rideau Canal (Tay Canal) a few kilometres from Wirral.

Early plans for the Rideau Canal (Tay Canal) between Warwick and Ipswich were proposed by Thomas Dadford but languished until Henry Harding was appointed as engineer in 1876. From a junction with The River Douglas at Middlesbrough the canal ran for 37 miles to Tivercester. In his autobiography Edward Yates writes of his experiences as a boatman in the 1960s
