Last post by Stephen Atty - Aug 23, 2025, 02:29 PMWe've moved from FluxBB to SMF (Simple Machines Forum) as FluxBB was getting long in the tooth and wasn't being fully maintained any more.
SMF is a much newer forum and is actively maintain and in widespread use.
Hopefully things are pretty self explanatory but the software developers do provide a user guide https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Category:As_a_regular_user which should cover most of it.
NOTE : Do not attempt to login to the forums directly. If you need to login then you must go via the main Canalplan website.
Also if wish to change things like your email then please do it in the main Canalplan website and then follow the link to the forums as this will make sure your Forum details are kept up to date.
If you have problems with anything then please raise it as a bug in the bugtracker.

Places / four counties ring route

Select Cruising Ring
Select Four Counties - there are clockwise and anti clockwise
Select a starting place ( assuming you know which hire boat company you are using)
Then set your start and end dates and other timing parameters
Three weeks will give you plenty of time to explore other bits like the Caldon - which has a great preserved steam railway and even down towards Chester
At the moment though there are major closures on the network - T&M North is closed as well as the Caldon

I am trying to work out the route for the hoilday. i have been recommended the four counties ring, can anybody give me details on the route to work out day length etc

One example of this is https://canalplan.uk/place/qh7q where the main thumbnail image is 20 years old. I've uploaded a new image, but it gets appended onto the end of the image list and doesn't update the thumbnail.
Is it possible to change the image ordering? I don't want to delete images others have added, as some may still add value, but it'd be good to be able to ensure the main image is high quality and up to date.

How do I add a new place?
There is a great mooring on the Weaver but there is nothing marked near it.
